WESTWORLD

“I used to think this place was all about pandering to your baser instincts, but now I understand, it doesn’t cater to your lowest self, it reveals your deepest self, it shows you who you really are.”

There are very few TV shows in the world that can get you so involved in the story that you have to post a blog on them. WestWorld is based on a 1973 film of the same name. The ability to weave an extraordinary story about the impact of Artificial Intelligence in the coming decades, although lost during current times, is something that WestWorld does beautifully. The completely assorted storylines and the insane plot twists(oops!) always keep you on the edge of your seat.

(“But then I came here, and I got a glimpse of a life in which I don’t have to pretend, a life in which I can be truly alive. How can I go back to pretending when I know what this feels like?”)

The beauty of a TV show of the fantasy genre is revealed, not when you can “pull a sword out of a hat”, so to speak, but when the viewer can relate to the minuscule possibility of it becoming a reality. To tell a story that captures the attention , is not to leave everything to the imagination (say “Alice in Wonderland”) but to balance on the tightrope that is the fine line between fantasy and reality.

Although there is still some story left , judging by completed episodes, this might very well be on par with some of the best TV shows of our time .

PS- This is not a review but a teaser.
